After nine years of implementing Law on Insurance (January 2001), the number of insurers increased from 12 to 50 whereby total insurance premium jumping from 3.056 trillion dong (in 2000) to the estimated 25.510 trillion dong (2010) with average growth of 27 percent a year, Ministry of Finance reported.

Total sum of money that insurers invested in the economy grew from five trillion dong to 69 trillion dong correspondingly.

Till March 2010, total FDI capital in insurance field reached over $1 billion.
