On April 6, the US dollar price in the free market dropped further to 19,160-19,200 dong/US dollar, losing 20-30 dong/US dollar against the previous day.

With this new price, this is the first time the US dollar price has dropped to below the threshold of 19,200 dong/US dollar for nearly past one year.

Additionally, the gap of US dollar price between banks and non-banking firms has been narrowed at 100 dong/US dollar.

The interbank FX rate announced by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) was maintained at 18,544 dong/US dollar on April 6 whereas the FX rate of commercial banks slipped strongly to 19,050-19,095 dong/US
